Spain: Granada - Motril, Sierra Nevada

Caravans in the Sun are pleased to announce they are working with a new campsite situated in the midst of nature, in the heart of the alpujarra. The complex is situated at an altitude of 1300metres on the sunniest face of the natural park of Sierra Nevada. It is divided into various terraces which lie at different levels, with each enplacement enjoying unobstructed views of the natural park, nearby mountains and further to the sea on clear days. These terraces are orientated towards the south which allows the enjoyment of many hours of sun from the 300 days of sunshine per year that the region is famous for. The complex also has a bar and restaurant, reception, grocery store, plus seperate showers and toilet blocks and the site has chalets for rental during busy periods. You are welcome to rent out your home to family and friends although these visits need to be booked in advance.

The local village is just 300 metres away from the campsite with amenities such as a school, church, supermarket and bakery plus other shops and bars. Every Friday of the year, there is a market in the village selling fresh fruit and vegetables, clothes, jewellery, plants and flowers. Public transport to the historic and picturesque city of Granada is frequent with a bus leaving 3 times daily, passing through some beautiful local towns and villages on the way. There are plenty of things to do in the area for the energetic such as mountain biking, trekking, abseiling, offroading and skiing in the winter months to the more relaxing activities such as lounging around the pool, fishing locally or going to watch local wine and cheese in production. The site is only 90 minutes drive from one of the greatest ski resorts in Spain, the Sierra Nevada mountain range.

The campsite opened in 1987 by the current Spanish owners who take great pride in their park. The owners daughter is fluent in English and is on hand to help with any queries you may have
