Caravans in the sun is very happy to present a new mountain park situated at 800m altitude in the celebrated picturesque valley in the heart of the French Pyrénees. The park is just 40 minute’s drive from Lourdes and Tarbes-Lourdes airport and a 20 minute walk from the local bus station – from which there is a bus service to Lourdes, airport, and the railway station. The park is just 500m from a shuttle to local ski stations perfect to skiing.
This tranquil family orientated park offers a green and peaceful setting, surrounded by mountains and streams in the heart of Luz Saint Sauveur Valley (the Valley of Light – named for its sunshine). The park is well located at the foot of the Col du Tourmalet – a cycling mecca for both cyclo-tourists and fans of the Tour de France which passes through here every year in July.
The location of the park is perfect for lovers of winter sports as there are 3 nearby ski resorts : – Luz Ardiden (which is easily reached by bus from the bus stop near the park), the domain of the Grand Tourmalet – the largest ski area of the French Pyrennes and the UNESCO World Heritage town of Garvarnie – famous for its beauty and annual festival.
Hiking enthusiasts have a wide choice of routes in the many mountain valleys surrounding the park where there are also many mountain lakes where you can fish for wild trout and salmon. For those who enjoy climbing there are peaks of up to 3000m – all set in this vast national park of the Pyrenees with its protected fauna and flora.
In the summer sheep and cattle can be seen grazing high in the mountains as local farmers still practise transhumance – grazing livestock is driven between the valleys in the winters and the high mountain pastures in summer. Many natural tourist sites are easily accessible on foot or by car: lakes, sites, high mountains, valleys, streams and waterfalls, pasture, rural villages and typical hamlets. Hot mountain springs provide the fitness care for the nearby spa and the famous city of pilgrimage – Lourdes is just 30 minute’s drive from the park. In just half an hour you can reach the resort of Cauterets with its famous thermal springs and Pont d’Espagne (or Bridge of Spain), spectacular south peak overlooking the valley and its observatory – where you can enjoy the wonderful views and also visit the museum and appreciate the astronomical delights of comets, meteors and far off galaxies.
The traditional local village is just a twenty minute walk from the park and has shops, supermarket, swimming pool, sports field, cinema, sports shop, rental companies, restaurants and trade regional products (the region has a rich gastronomic and wine tradition) banks, medical center, pharmacy, dentist, garage and petrol station, a factory of artisan wool, an important historical heritage with the ruins of its medieval castle and fortified church and a weekly well supplied market every Monday.

The park has a meeting room and entertainment, petanque, table tennis, laundry and a children’s play area.
11) What facilities are nearby?
Locally you will find shops, bank, bowling, bars, restaurants, supermarket, market, shops, hire companies for sports equipment (ski bikes) mountain guide office, Doctor, pharmacy, dentist, hairdressers, pool, disco, thermal spa, walks, bungee jumping, paragliding, ice skating and a weekly market.
12) Would I need to hire a car whilst over there?
A car is recommended but not indispensable as there is a bus station approx 1km away to get to destinations such as Lourdes, railway station and the airport. The shuttle to local ski stations is just 500m from the park.
13) How far are the nearest golf courses and beaches situated?
The nearest golf course is 30 kms from the park.
14) How far is the site from the nearest airport?
The park is just 40 minutes’ drive from Lourdes and Tarbes-Lourdes Airport.
15) What is the weather like?
Set in the French Pyrenees the climate during the winter is perfect for skiing, it is cold and there is heavy snow. In general the climate is warm with an average annual temperature of 9.8ºC
16) Are pets allowed on site?
Yes pets are allowed on a lead.
17) How long is the site open for and how long can I stay here for?
Open 10 months of the year (Open 01/02 – 15/10 and 24/12 – 04/01).
18) Does all work on plots have to be done by site owners?
Residents can work on their own plots with the prior agreement of the campsite who supply and install all terraces. Fencing is not permitted
Viewing trips : Mobile Homes in France, Luz Saint Sauveur, Pyrénées – Lourdes
We have 2 options available on this mobile home park. Option 1 – 2 nights accommodation in a local hotel with a tour of the park, the viewing of mobile homes (where available), tour of local area and possible collection from Lourdes airport. Alternatively, option 2 – you can make an appointment to be shown around the park and the homes available during a day visit.
Option 1 – Your viewing trip starts when you meet up with our customer service team at Lourdes airport or at your hotel in Luz Saint Sauveur where you can check-in and make the arrangements to view the park and the local area the following day. You will now be able to relax for the rest of the day/evening. If required our team can inform you of the local area, the location of amenities, restaurants and answer any initial questions you may have.
The next day they will show you around the site and answer any further questions you may have. You may then want to explore the surrounding towns and villages, take a drive around the local area or visit some of the local attractions. If you would like to take a drive and explore yourself then our team will always be on hand for advice, directions and any other information you may require.
That night you get to relax in your hotel again before heading back to the airport for your return flight home. You may wish to return to the park the following day for a final look before flying back, this is fine and our team will be available to take you back for a second look.
Option 2 – You contact our office with your planned travel arrangements and day of arrival with an approximate time for when you would like to view the park. We then make the arrangement for you to come and view the park and homes (where applicable). Unfortunately an appointment is necessary to view the park as this is a residential style community and we like to keep disruption to home owners to a minimum. We do not employ high pressure sales teams and at no time during the visit will you be under any pressure or obligation to purchase. We believe that the product, once seen sells itself and if you are interested, you will contact us to complete the purchase. We will then ensure that you are given our full assistance and guide you through your purchase if required.
If required our team can inform you of the local area, the location of amenities, restaurants etc. and answer any initial questions you may have, we can also recommend a local hotel if you wish to stay local to the park for a couple of nights.
Your travel arrangements are booked in conjunction with our UK office subject to availability. This will be coordinated with our customer service team in France. We can give friendly advice and help about where and how to book your ferries / flights and car hire if required; we will arrange and reserve your accommodation. Please note: Brand new mobile homes are not already sited on the mobile home park, these models must be viewed in the UK either prior to, or after your park visit. Please call us if you are interested in viewing a new mobile home, we will locate your requested make/model of home on a showground in the UK, trying to provide a location as close to you as we possibly can. Any resale mobile homes we may have listed on the website are situated on the park and will be available to view with your appointment.
Viewing trip costs will be refunded up to a maximum of £150 if you proceed to purchase. Your accommodation invoice, flight receipt or ferry receipt will be required for the credit adjustment and will be shown as a credit on your final invoice. The cost is not redeemable in conjunction with any other special offer, price reduction, discounts or promotions.
