We are proud to introduce Humilladero – in the province of Málaga, southern Spain. The park surrounded by fields and trees in an area of spectacular scenery and on the edge of a pine-covered Natural Park (one of the areas where eagles, falcons and vultures can still be seen). The nearby village is 15 minutes’ stroll from the park and Malaga Airport is easily reached by road in less than an hour. The nearest high-speed train station with access to Malaga, Cordoba, Granada, Seville and Madrid is less than 15 minutes’ drive from the park.
The facilities of the park include a swimming pool (seasonal) and restaurant and bar – open 6 days a week mid-June – September and 3 days a week in the winter. The park also has a laundrette and play areas for children (kids’ club and entertainment in high season), a petanque court and sauna (extra charge). Pets are permitted and homeowners can stay up to six months at a time in their home with just a necessary break of one night before the next six-month stay.
Conde del Guadalhorce Reservoir
The Conde del Guadalhorce reservoir in Ardales is one of Andalucia’s most magnificent and tranquil locations, located less than 30 minutes away from Humilladero!
Enjoy the delightful blue waters set amongst pine forests and the blue flag beach – the only one to be awarded in all of Andalucia.
Relax & unwind
Relaxing and breathing in the stunning views of the shimmering waters makes for the perfect day out. Not only does the blue flag beach award grab people’s attention but, the outstanding scenery of the most delightfully blue waters and the deep green forest is breathtaking.
Things to do
The incredible setting and the fabulous weather is not all that the beach has to offer, there are also plenty of activities to take part in. Why not rent a pedal boat or canoe and enjoy the location in a different way, admiring the setting while sailing through the dazzling waters.
Dine out
Take advantage of and explore the blue flag beach at your leisure, camping in the forest is also available as well as dining out in the heart of the nature forests with your family and friends.
A message from Mayor
The Conde Del Guadalhorce Reservoir is an extremely well-loved location. Alberto Naranjo, the mayor of Ardales is honored by the achievement of the beach. He explains “it is a standard of tourist eco-quality in more than 70 countries on five continents” and is a big factor for tourism for the beach and the wider community.
The nearby village has the advantage of shops (both food and traditional ironwork), bakers, a bank, medical centre, weekly market (Thursdays), a selection of tapas bars and restaurants, festivals to celebrate the patron saint in July and October and a week-long fair in August. The area is good for walking and cycling trails, and there are several manmade caves that have produced evidence of Arab settlements. One such is the Cave of El Zapato on the route of Pico Pollo, a peak of 610metres altitude, from which extensive views of the Laguna de Fuente de Piedra nature reserve and its flamingo lake can be enjoyed.
Antequera – known as the crossroads of Andalucía – is filled with small family run shops – local artisans are well known for their work with gold and many work with locally harvested vegetable fibres to produce baskets – modern shopping malls and a hypermarket are on the outskirts of the city. The city has over 40 churches (many with wonderfully ornate interiors), burial mounds, dolmens, Roman baths, a Moorish Castle, Gothic churches, Renaissance fountains and baroque bell towers. The countryside in the valley below has been one of Andalucia’s most fertile areas for centuries and is currently a leading producer of asparagus, cereals, olives – and sunflowers in the summer – making the fields turn a brilliant yellow.
