Villaitana is usually the first course people end up playing when they’re staying near Benidorm, and it tends to set the standard for everything else locally. It’s about ten minutes from the park, which helps, but the main thing is you’ve got two full courses there rather than just one.

The Levante course. It’s a par 72 and just over 6,600 metres, so it’s not short. It’s more open than a lot of UK courses, which means you can use your driver more, but you still need to think your way around it. There are a lot of bunkers and a few water hazards in play, so if you’re out of position it shows up quickly enough.

The greens are one of the things people notice. They tend to be on the quicker side and quite firm, especially in warmer weather, so you need to adjust if you’re used to softer greens. There’s also a bit of elevation across the course, which means yardage doesn’t always tell the full story.

The Poniente course. Shorter at par 62, but it’s not just there as an easy option. It’s more technical, tighter in places, and you end up using more irons and wedges. It’s the sort of course where your short game matters more than anything else. A lot of people use it midweek because you can get round quicker, but it still feels like a proper round.

Las Rejas

Las Rejas offers a completely different experience compared to Villaitana, which is exactly why it is popular.

Located right in Benidorm, just behind the Poniente side, it’s really convenient. You don’t need to travel far or plan your entire day around it. You can simply decide to go in the morning and be there within minutes. The course itself is a 9 hole par 3 pitch and putt, and it is set up mainly for beginners, golf school use, and short game practice.

That said, it is not just for beginners. The narrower fairways, strategic tee positions, and precision approach shots mean it still gives regular players something useful. You can use it to work on control and consistency. Recent 2026 reviews describe it as a very short course, but a good one for practising the short game. From a practical point of view, it is one of the easiest golf options locally to fit into normal life. It has a driving range, golf school, club hire, buggy hire, and somewhere to sit afterwards, so it is not just a case of play and leave. It is also one of the more affordable options in the area, which makes it easy to use regularly.

It’s not trying to compete with the larger courses, and most people seem to accept it for what it is. Las Rejas is popular because it is easy to get to, affordable, and useful. If you want a quick round or somewhere to work on your short game without making a day of it, it does exactly what you need it to do.

Altea Club de Golf

Altea Club de Golf is around fifteen minutes from Benidorm, located near Altea la Vella at the base of the Sierra Bernia mountains. It’s one of the older courses in the area, and it has a more traditional layout compared to newer developments.

The course is 9 holes, played as 18 from different tee positions, which gives it more variation than you might expect. Over 9 holes it plays just over 3,000 metres, but when played as 18 it becomes a full par 72 round.

This is not a course built around power. The fairways are tighter in places, and the terrain is uneven, so you’re dealing with slopes and changing lies rather than flat, straightforward shots. It’s more about control and course management than distance. If you’re slightly off, it tends to show up quickly. The layout uses the natural hillside, so elevation plays a part throughout the round. Club selection isn’t always obvious, and you need to think your way around rather than just hitting full shots, adding a challenging element.

Because of the terrain, it can feel a bit more physical than the other courses locally. You’re walking up and down slopes rather than staying on flatter ground, which is worth factoring in, especially in warmer weather. That’s why a lot of people choose to take a buggy here, even if they wouldn’t normally.

Puig Campana

Puig Campana is just outside Finestrat, around fifteen minutes from Benidorm. It opened in 2016 and is currently a 9 hole course, with plans to extend it to 18.

It’s a par 36 at just over 3,100 metres, so it gives you a full round rather than something quick. You’ve got more space off the tee than tighter courses, but it’s not just a case of hitting driver and hoping for the best. Distances and elevation come into play, especially on approach, so you still need to think about your shots.

The course sits between Finestrat and Villajoyosa, with open ground around it and views towards Puig Campana mountain. It’s not built up, so you’re not dealing with houses or tight boundaries.

It suits regular golfers. It’s not overly difficult, but it’s not flat or forgettable either. The fairways and greens are generally well kept, and there’s enough variation across the holes to keep it interesting without it becoming hard work.

From a practical point of view, it’s easy to use. It’s open to non members, tee times are straightforward to book, and there’s a driving range and short game area on site. Club hire, buggies and trolleys are all available. You can play 9 holes or go round again depending on how much time you’ve got.

Overall, it is well regarded for its condition and value. It offers a more complete round than shorter courses, without the busier feel of larger resort courses. From the park, it is still close enough to use regularly without needing to plan your whole day around it.

Puig Campana Golf Course

If you’re happy to go a little further, there are a few more courses within around 30–40 minutes that are worth knowing about.

Bonalba Golf (Mutxamel – around 25–30 minutes)

A full 18 hole course with a more resort feel. The fairways are wider and more forgiving, which suits a relaxed round. It’s a popular choice with holiday golfers.

El Plantío Golf (Alicante – around 30 minutes)

An 18 hole course alongside a separate 9 hole academy layout. Strong practice facilities and generally well kept. It’s slightly more polished in feel than some of the others.

Alenda Golf (Alicante inland – around 35 minutes)

A full 18 hole course set slightly further inland. Conditions are a bit more stable, with less coastal wind. It’s a little more technical in places without being difficult to play.
